How do you look like an NPC?

The safest movement is deliberately uninteresting. Follow the general direction and pace of nearby animals. Avoid rapid camera-like corrections, perfect paths around obstacles, and sudden sprints the moment the hunter enters view.

Where should you hide?

Stay inside a group with several plausible targets. An isolated animal gives the hunter time to listen and observe without interference. A dense herd adds overlapping movement, sound, and doubt.

Do not chase the biggest group across open ground if moving there makes you conspicuous. A smaller group you already match is often safer.

What makes an animal sound believable?

  • Keep it short enough to repeat under pressure.
  • Use a comfortable pitch rather than forcing a theatrical voice.
  • Match your volume across attempts.
  • Avoid laughter, spoken words, and breathing directly into the microphone.
  • Finish the sound cleanly instead of trailing into human speech.

How should you react to the hunter?

Do less. Players often reveal themselves by immediately turning, fleeing, or freezing when the weapon points their way. Continue the movement you were already making unless danger is certain.

What should you do when flies appear?

Flies turn an audio mistake into a visual clue. Move toward cover or a larger group without making a panicked straight-line escape. The goal is not to erase the clue; it is to give the hunter several reasonable targets before they act on it.
